Anabrez Tablets
Enquiry

Anabrez Tablets

Uses Anabrez (Anastrozole) manufactured by Sun Pharma. Anabrez (Anastrozole) is used to treat breast cancer in women after the change of life (menopause). Anabrez (Anastrozole) does not kill cancer cells. Rather, it stops or slows their growth.

Anabrez (Anastrozole) belongs to a group of medicines called aromatase inhibitors. It acts on the body to stop production of the low levels of female sex hormones (oestrogen) produced in the body.

In younger women, high levels of oestrogen are produced by the ovary and act to make the breast grow, prepare the womb for pregnancy and develop sex drive. After the change of life (menopause) low levels of oestrogen are made in fat cells throughout the body. These low levels of oestrogen may help cancer cells to grow, in women with breast cancer.

Your physician will help you understand the benefits of taking Anabrez (Anastrozole) for your particular problem. Ask your physician for further information if he/she has prescribed this medicine for a different purpose.

Dosage and administration
Your physician will have decided how much Anabrez (Anastrozole) you should take each day.

The usual adult dose is one tablet taken daily. Try to take your tablets at the same time each day. Anabrez (Anastrozole) tablets may be taken before or after food. Anabrez (Anastrozole) tablets should be swallowed whole with a drink of water. Do not chew the tablets.

Do not stop taking your tablets even if you are feeling well, until your physician tells you.

You should take Anabrez (Anastrozole) as prescribed by your physician. However, if you miss a dose, do not take an extra dose. Just resume your normal schedule. For example, if you forget to take Monday's tablet leave the tablet allocated to Monday. Then on Tuesday resume as normal by taking the tablet allocated to Tuesday. Do not take extra tablets to make up for a missed dose.

If you have trouble remembering when or how to take your medicine, ask your pharmacist or physician for some hints.

Side effects
Tell your physician or pharmacist as soon as possible if you do not feel well while you are taking Anabrez (Anastrozole).

As with all medicines, undesirable effects are sometimes experienced. Sometimes they are serious, most of the time they are not.

Some people taking Anabrez (Anastrozole) have noticed the following side effects, however you may not experience any of them: :
  • hot flushes
  • thinning of the hair
  • vaginal dryness
  • anorexia (loss of appetite)
  • nausea
  • vomiting
  • diarrhoea
  • feeling weak
  • headache
  • joint pain or joint stiffness
  • sleepiness
  • skin rash
  • vaginal bleeding (usually in the first few weeks of treatment)

Important: This leaflet alerts you to some of the situations when you should call your physician. Other situations, which cannot be predicted, may arise. Nothing in this leaflet should stop you from calling your physician or pharmacist with any questions or concerns you have about using Anabrez (Anastrozole).

Precautions You must tell your physician if :
  • You have allergies to Anabrez (Anastrozole) (if you have taken this medicine previously and experienced an allergic reaction).

Cellcept Tablets
Enquiry

Cellcept Tablets

Cellcept contains drug mycophenolic acid :
  • Indication: Cellcept is used to prevent rejection in organ transplantation.
  • Available as: 250 mg & 500 mg tablets.
  • Manufacture by: Roche
  • Posology and method of administration

Treatment with CellCept should be initiated and maintained by appropriately qualified transplant specialists.

Use in renal transplant :
Adults: oral CellCept should be initiated within 72 hours following transplantation. The recommended dose in renal transplant patients is 1 g administered twice daily (2 g daily dose).

Children and adolescents (aged 2 to 18 years): the recommended dose of mycophenolatemofetil is 600 mg/m2administered orally twice daily (up to a maximum of 2 g daily). CellCept tablets should only be prescribed to patients with a body surface area greater than 1.5 m2, at a dose of 1 g twice daily (2 g daily dose). As some adverse reactions occur with greater frequency in this age group (see section 4.8) compared with adults, temporary dose reduction or interruption may be required; these will need to take into account relevant clinical factors including severity of reaction.

Children (< 2 years): there are limited safety and efficacy data in children below the age of 2 years. These are insufficient to make dosage recommendations and therefore use in this age group is not recommended.

Use in cardiac transplant :
Adults : oral CellCept should be initiated within 5 days following transplantation. The recommended dose in cardiac transplant patients is 1.5 g administered twice daily (3 g daily dose).

Children : no data are available for paediatric cardiac transplant patients.

Use in hepatic transplant :
Adults : IV CellCept should be administered for the first 4 days following hepatic transplant, with oral CellCept initiated as soon after this as it can be tolerated. The recommended oral dose in hepatic transplant patients is 1.5 g administered twice daily (3 g daily dose).

Children : no data are available for paediatric hepatic transplant patients.

Use in elderly (≥ 65 years): the recommended dose of 1 g administered twice a day for renal transplant patients and 1.5 g twice a day for cardiac or hepatic transplant patients is appropriate for the elderly.

Use in renal impairment : in renal transplant patients with severe chronic renal impairment (glomerular filtration rate < 25 ml•min-1•1.73 m-2), outside the immediate post-transplant period, doses greater than 1 g administered twice a day should be avoided. These patients should also be carefully observed. No dose adjustments are needed in patients experiencing delayed renal graft function post-operatively (see section 5.2). No data are available for cardiac or hepatic transplant patients with severe chronic renal impairment.

Use in severe hepatic impairment : no dose adjustments are needed for renal transplant patients with severe hepatic parenchymal disease. No data are available for cardiac transplant patients with severe hepatic parenchymal disease.

Treatment during rejection episodes : MPA (mycophenolic acid) is the active metabolite of mycophenolatemofetil. Renal transplant rejection does not lead to changes in MPA pharmacokinetics; dosage reduction or interruption of CellCept is not required. There is no basis for CellCept dose adjustment following cardiac transplant rejection. No pharmacokinetic data are available during hepatic transplant rejection.
